Long Branch was America’s first seaside resort — a place where seven U.S. presidents vacationed, where Victorian estates lined Ocean Avenue, and where the wealthy came to escape New York summers. That history left behind a city with one of the oldest housing stocks in Monmouth County.
Today, Long Branch is a mix of everything: grand Victorians in Elberon, mid-century homes in the West End, beachfront condos along Pier Village, multi-family properties near Broadway, and newer construction scattered throughout. Some of these buildings are 100+ years old. Others went up last decade. The electrical systems are just as varied — and just as unpredictable.
Then there’s the ocean. Hurricane Sandy hit Long Branch hard in 2012 — some residents went without power for two weeks. The boardwalk was destroyed and wasn’t fully rebuilt until 2016. Living on the coast means living with storm risk, and that changes how homeowners think about electrical resilience.
We’ve served Long Branch since 1996. We’re about 12 minutes from Pier Village, and we know the challenges that come with beachfront properties, century-old wiring, and the salt air that corrodes everything.
Most older Long Branch homes have 60-amp or 100-amp panels. We upgrade to 200-amp service to support modern electrical demands — and it's required before adding an EV charger or upgrading your HVAC.
After Sandy, Long Branch homeowners learned the hard way what two weeks without power feels like. A standby generator kicks on automatically when the grid goes down — keeping your refrigerator running, your sump pump working, and your family comfortable.
Long Branch has the most diverse repair portfolio of any town we serve. Oceanfront condos at Pier Village with modern electrical systems that still fault from salt corrosion. Turn-of-the-century Victorians in the West End with knob-and-tube wiring and 60-amp fuse boxes. 1960s apartment buildings along Broadway where aging aluminum wiring needs constant monitoring. Post-Sandy rebuilds along Ocean Boulevard where code-compliant systems occasionally reveal contractor shortcuts.
The range is enormous, and each type requires a different diagnostic approach. We don't send a technician with a voltage tester and a guess — we troubleshoot systematically, explain what we find, and repair it to last. Whether it's a brownout in a Norwood Avenue Victorian or a tripping GFCI in a beachfront condo, we handle it the same way: find the root cause, fix it, and make sure it doesn't come back.
Level 2 home charging for Tesla, Ford, Rivian, and all other EVs. We evaluate your panel capacity, handle the installation, and manage permitting. Older homes often need a panel upgrade first. See our Long Branch EV Charging Services -->
Coastal storms mean power fluctuations and surges. Surge protection at the panel guards your appliances, electronics, and HVAC equipment from damage.

Long Branch’s housing stock is among the oldest in Monmouth County. Many homes — especially in Elberon, West End, and the Broadway corridor — were built between 1900 and 1960. That means:
Outdated panels: 60-amp and 100-amp services are common. These can’t handle modern electrical loads — central air, modern kitchens, EV chargers, home offices.
Old wiring: Some older homes still have knob-and-tube or cloth-wrapped wiring. Insurance companies are increasingly unwilling to cover properties with these systems.
Ungrounded outlets: Two-prong outlets are everywhere in pre-1960s homes. Modern electronics need grounded circuits.
Storm damage: Salt air accelerates corrosion. Coastal flooding damages electrical systems. Power surges from storm-related outages take out appliances.
Condo and multi-family complexity: Beachfront condos and multi-family buildings have their own electrical challenges — shared panels, aging infrastructure, and code compliance issues.
Whether you’re in a Victorian in Elberon, a condo at Pier Village, or a multi-family on Broadway, the electrical system probably needs attention.
